First brewed in 2009 to the style and strength of the Black Eagle Brewery’s famous Double Stout 1938. Made with a blend of coloured and roasted malts. Late hopped with Kent Goldings. A rich roasted stout with dark fruits (prune) with a smooth body followed with a hint of bitterness.

Bottled. Black colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is cocoa, some ripe fruits, mild nutty and toffeeish notes along with some toast. Flavour pretty much has the same elements in a rather nicely bodied fluid. Good sipper.

500ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, small to average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Sweet-ish and roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of malt lozenge, some malt spiciness, hints of cola, a touch of treacle and dark fruit, plum or the like. Taste is roasty dark malty with bitter hoppy overtones, minimally chalky, hints of mineral bitterness, very cautious hints of plum; finally quite monotonous and one-dimensional, minimally watery.
