Smooth and satisfying, this example of an historic style of beer derives its rich, chocolatey character from a blend of Brown and Chocolate malts in the brew. Its notable coffee notes and creamy finish make it a wonderful accompaniment to many sweet foods – especially chocolate pudding. 5.4% ABV.

Bottle. I must say, I'm not sure I understand the hype. It is a decent porter, it is not very sweet, you can get the Fuggle hops in there and still that deep malty, sometimes smoky flavour as well as grassy caramel. But I think there are much smoother, more deep and flavourful porters out there. (26/10/2017). ------ Bottle from Captain Cook Östersund. Was fun to see this lying around in the bar. Yet once again i really did not understand the hype. I have suspicion that on cask this must be far more sophisticated than on bottle. Some smoked flavours in the light body this time. 3.3 to 3.2. (15/4/21). ------ Can from Systembolaget. I enjoyed this. It is a deep, full bodied porter and delivers what other porters wouldn't with double the percentage. Gorgeous appearance with lasting foam. But for some reason the rating stays nearby. 3.2 to 3.3.

500ml can into pint glass. Pours ruby red/dark brown with perfect off-white creamy head. Nose of rich dark chocolate and toffee. Full body, smooth texture. Taste is bitter chocolate. Finish is cocoa, more chocolate, fruit cake. Slightly dry and bitter right at the end. I can live without porters but this is superb.

Bottle at home while preparing dinner. Poured beautifully with a pretty and long-lasting head and an aroma of toasted malt that augured well for the beer itself. The taste was all toasted malt and was almost sensuous in the mouth. A really long-lasting flavour and a pleasure to drink. I can see why this scores so well and I know that it is a beer that I will revisit.
