Cask at the White Horse Old Ale fest 2011, Parsons Green, London. An amber/copper coloured pour with a very small off white head on top. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel, port. Tastes of Christmas, sweet, dark fruit, caramel, raisins, oranges. An all time favourite from Harveys.

275ml bottle picked up in Hastings for rating #2600 Copper coloured with a thin cream head; rich, fruity, Christmas Cake aroma; thick in the mouth with flavours of treacle, plums, apricots and cinder toffee; giving a dry, burnt sugar finish with warming alcohol. A beautiful sipper.

Bottle from The Bitter End, Bromley. Reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Very festive nose indeed. Raisins, figs, dates, prunes, treacle, plum pudding. Full on dark fruit action. Imposing flavours of plum pudding, dates, walnuts, raisins, crisp red apples, damsons and figs. Nice, smooth alcohol burn. Rich fruity finish. Tasty.

Doft av söta mogna äpplen och alkohol. Någonstans mellan en engelsk strong ale och en barley wine. En av de bättre i kategorin. Mycket söta mogna, nästan övermogna äpplen, söt fruktkaka, lätt syrligt och allt bärs av de stadiga 8,1%procenten.

Deep, ruby-brown body, off-white lacing-head. Aroma of raisin and malts. Potent flavour of plums, raisin, prunes and sweet spices. Has got a distant bitter touch on the swallow. Gets very sweet, but a small bottle like this should be great for sipping through a dark Christmas night. Bottle 275ml carefully shared with Finn at Royal Oak, Borough, London 3 Oct 10.

Flaske 0,275l på Royal Oak, Borough 3 Okt 10. Dyp rødbrun. Pent luftig skum som varer. Svakt søtlig aroma. Litt karamell. 0 kullsyre. Smaken veldig fyldig. Vinøs. Sherry. Pen å se på. Veldig søt. Alkoholen kommer tydelig fram.

Cask at the Wenlock Arms, London. Poured a cloudy, ruby-brown with an easy, off-white head. Sour malt aroma with faint fruits and earthy hops. Sweet, tart, malty flavor, also vinous with hints of sugar plums, apples and toffee, syrup and brown sugar. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Has a sweet, wine-like finish with a boozy kick and more sour notes. Awkward, but decent. Can’t really understand the tart, sour fruit notes.
