Cask at Bir & Fud, Trastevere Roma - 03/10/12. Mid black with a medium dark tan head that retains very well. Excellent full glass lacing ensues. Big roast malt nose, bitter chocolate, coffee and a touch of smoke. Tastes of big roast malts, great milk chocolate flavour and a touch licqourice. Smooth feel, medium bodied with light carbonation. Would have picked up 4 out of 5 for palate but a few floaties appeared in my mouth from the glass at only around 30% of the way into the beer! Good stuff floaties aside!

Aroma is somewhat sweet with roasted notes, some coffee and hints of smoke. Flavour is slightly sweet with lots of roasted notes, some coffee, chocolate, hints of smoke and tar. Good stout, but a smoked? No way.

Bottled@Vinoteca del Piemonte, Tampere. One bottle found way back among the beers. Quite much black coloured with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, some smoked wet wooden notes. Flavour is quite similar along with some liquorice and mild ashy notes.

Bottle, 75cl, courtesy of good Danish friends. A clear-looking dark brown beer with a minimal tan head. Smoked, roasted nose with some coffee. Coffee and chocolate in the flavor, rather dry on the palate. Medium body. Lasting finish with the initial flavor. A quite nice one, but a bit one-tracked for my likings. 100814

(Bottle, 0.75 l, at Pikkulintu) The beer poured black with light brown and medium sized head. Aroma had roastedness, mildly smoke, mildly ash and creaminess. Palate was dry and full bodied with medium carbonation. The taste was burnt, roasty, smoke, sourness and bitterness. Aftertaste was mildly smoky, sour and ashy. Not a bad beer. I suspect they have used oatmeal too because of the sourness in the taste. Smoke was too hidden.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours black with a tint of red and a beige head. Hard roasted malt in the nose, some ashes. Medium body, hard roasted malts and sweet vanilla. Some malt bitterness. Straight and well made Stout - not a Smoked. 140810
