Another old rating that Iβd forgotten to write up. On tap @ the Haymarket. Proportionate head. Nose of sage and onion stuffing. Taste of malt, grass, nettles then hobnobs. Medium bodied and creamy texture, though the finish is slightly lacking refreshment. Overall, itβs decent.

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium amber orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, caramelized malt bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120623]

Bottle. A clear, dark golden to light amber beer topped by a small, dense, light beige head. Some lacings occur. The aroma is citrusy and grassy, with biscuity malts and pine cone notes. The flavor has caramel, or toffee, with pale malts, pine cones and some grass, and a pleasant bitterness. Medium to full body, quite dryish. Lasting bitter finish with some fruityness. Tasted cask at Famous Three Kings, West Kensington, London on 18 May 2012. Slightly cloudy dark amber color, spongy small head with long retention, no specific aroma, roasted malt taste, medium carbonation, long finish. Surprisingly fine.
