Bottle. Appearance - deep amber with a generous head. Nose - as soon as there was a slight hiss of carbon dioxide, I immediately smelt butterscotch. Maybe it’s just toffee and a little cloying rather than being a particular fault. Taste - caramel with a hint of biscuit at the back. A kind of liquid Fudge bar. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a finish that is a little sweet to be honest. Overall - it’s nothing special but there’s nothing particularly wrong with it.

Cask half pint at The Cottage, Cardiff. Copper colour, moderate off-white head. Pleasant malty and nutty aroma. The flavour is moderately malty but still quite dry first, sweeter in the middle with a hint of caramel, and a dry and "dusty" finish.

4.5% Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2015. How I haven’t rated this I have no idea. Clear deep brown collar of bubbles. Malty aroma. Malty nutty flavour. Really interesting flavours. Verges on the marzipan but also almost sour too. Not great condition but definitely interesting. Good.

Pint on handpull, Cottage Loaf Llandudno. Nice malt nose, ruby red beer with thin cream head. Zero carbonation. Rich creamy body, really good. Aftertaste is toffee malt with (VERY) slight hop note. Really delicious.
