The Rev. James Original is rich and well-balanced with a mellow malty flavour that unexpectedly gives way to a clean, refreshing finish.
The Rev. James ales are based on an original recipe from 1885, and named in honour of brewing legend the Rev. James Buckley, saver of souls and satisfier of thirsts.
Brewed with our exclusive Buckleys yeast, they each deliver a signature taste with a surprising finish.

Bottle as a gift from a friend, James being my name and all. Pours dark brown, short-lived beige head. Aromas are all toffee malt. Taste is toffee and metal. Pretty poor to be honest, better on cask.

440 ml can. Pours a clear, dark amber colour with an average, off-white head. Sweet aroma of malt and butterscotch. Sweet flavour of malt, caramel, wood and a hint of nuts with a mildly dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and flat carbonation.

Cask at the Haymarket. Nice clear copper pour, but a butter bomb to be honest. Loads of toffee and butter. Not very good.
