Pint can from ??? and shared with maniac, Betsy, Jarom at our 5/1/22 tasting. Ghost 1174. Deep red brown, large frothy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roast, clay, dark chocolate, earth. Taste is roast, dark chocolate, raisin, vanilla. Full body. Nice.

Can from Total Wine in Reston, VA - old school American-style imperial Stout a la 2002-era Storm King - medium-body - heavy on the bitterness and roast - moderate espresso, vanilla, and blueberry - you can kinda taste the alcohol on the tail end - while I appreciate throwbacks as much as the next aging beer nerd, I can get some Old Rasputin for half what I paid for this and it ain’t all that dissimilar (though more balanced - less alcohol heat) - still pretty good, though.

16oz can from Tavour. Black pour, light beige head, recedes to tiny ring of bubbles. Aroma is half roasty malts and half caramel/toffee. Taste is also an even split between bittering roast and brown sugar sweetness. Finish is mostly bitter, but sweet elements also linger in the background.

Pint can pours with a deep dark colored body that has a thin mahogany edges and supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a fair load of chocolate paired with thin ribbons of dark roasted to nearly burnt malts and a sense of lactose like soft milk chocolate. The taste delivers firm deep dark roasted malts and dark roasted coffee blended smoothly with chocolate and a sense of lightly caramel drizzled chocolate brownie. This is smooth and integrated with little sense of the big ABV.
