Reviewed from notes.
Can to tulip.
Appearance: dark brown in the pour but looks closer to black in the glass with a finger's worth of khaki foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: bitter pine and grapefruity hop notes up front with some dark chocolate bitterness and a light coffee roast further underneath
Flavor: intertwines the previously noted aromas to a fine bittersweet quality; finishes with the bitter pine and dark chocolate bitterness
Texture: medium bodied, this is a sipper; some dry smoothness and some light "palate wrecking" capabilities come in but somehow they do not "slay the tongue" like I thought they could have, just seemed a little bit lighter than some other black IPA's
Overall: don't get me wrong, I do believe this was a well brewed black IPA I just think it needed that "extra" push to get it to be a great slayer of the palate.

Not worth the 11.4, hides the alcohol well. A bit of cola and chocolate

16 oz can from Tavour. Dark brown pour with foamy beige head. Aroma is roast malts, some coffee notes. Taste brings in the hops, some fruity sweet notes, and the roadt malts adding a bitter bite. Lots of different elements for all palates to enjoy.

Can from Corti Bros. Pours dark brn/blk with a nice foamy tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malt with a tropical/citrus accompaniment. Med body or perhaps a bit more. Flavor is quite hoppy - citrus/melon (or maybe mango) with a large amount of dark roasted malt support. Dry tho. And bitter. Heat can be easily found when looked for. Sort of a hoppy, bitter near IS. It cries out for 6 months in a rum barrel. Or a port barrel. But for the sake of all that is good, NOT a bourbon barrel.
