Es heißt, der Ursprung des IPA liege in der britischen Kolonialzeit in Indien. Für die Kolonien sollte ein Pale Ale gebraut werden, das die monatelange Fahrt mit dem Schiff übersteht. So wurde das Bier mit erhöhtem Alkohol- und Hopfengehalt gebraut und zusätzlich kaltgehopft um eine natürliche konservierende Wirkung zu erzielen. In Indien angekommen sollte das Starkbier eigentlich rückverdünnt werden, doch auch so erfreute es sich hoher Beliebtheit. Später wurde das IPA in den USA ebenfalls neu interpretiert. Unser HEY JOE MAD DOG IPA ist an die IPAs der US West Küste angelehnt.

Kräftig fruchtiger Aromenmix aus Grapefruit, Kiefer und Gewürzen, eingebettet in einen malzig-vollmundigen Geschmack mit herbem Abgang. Für jeden, der nicht genug Aroma bekommen kann.

Fläschle(Dank am See dran!): Amber coloured, hazy to cloudy, quite stable creamy off-white head, moderate dryish bitter herbal-piney nose, residual malt hard to detect; pretty solid dry bitter and mildly sweet flavour, relatively light bodied for a beer of 6.7%; dry lingering piney-fruity finish, balanced a a small amount of sweet malt. bottle from Heinrichs 3000 Kornwestheim. Hazy deep orange amber with a tall off-White head. Lovely and promising fruity nose. Full-bodied with a powerful malty base, delivering lots of fruity hops, Tropical fruit mainly, also a piney touch. Smooth and velvety on the palate, alcohol well hidden. Ticks all the boxes for me.

Pours a hazy amber body with a medium, creamy tan head. The nose is bitter and hoppy with flowers, grapefruit.

Tap. Hazy amber color with large eggshell head. Aroma is farty, grapefruit, yeasty, toffee. Taste is grapefruit, strawberries, toffee, toasted malts. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Ok.

Sampled @ BKL 2018. A hazy deep amber beer with a mid sized most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of orange fruits, resinous hops, reddish malt. Taste of orange bitter fruity hops, resinous hops, long bitter finish.
