Neon Stout

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy tan head. Clear aroma of fruit and coffee, with notes of roast and chocolate malt. Roasty flavour with notes of malt and yeast amd touches of smoke. Acidic hints. Acidic aftertaste with roasty notes, quite unpleasant actually. Could be better but definitely drinkable.

Bottle, 6.2%. Rough raw liquorice aroma. Black colour. Very small light brown head. The flavour has a distinct raw liquorice note, vinous touch. Very roasted barley notes, bordering on sour. Has too much alcohol bitterness for me even though it is not that strong.

Pours a black color, topped with a medium big cream colored head, slowly settling. Mild roasty aroma, little chocolate and some soury grainy notes. Taste is similar - mildly roasty with some sourness present. Finishing with medium bitterness and lasting aftertaste - some coffee. Medium light body. Some alcohol warmth. Nothing special really.

Jako crne boje sa pjenom koja je brzo otišla u ništavilo. Ima arome po kavi i crnoj čokoladi. Okusom je malo slađe, ali ima nešto okusa kave i čokolade. Ovo bi svrstao u red piva vrlo sličnih mojih homebrew piva, kao da sam pio jednu takvu svoju. :-)

Black colored, medium to small tan creamy head, not too lasting. Aroma is of dark chocolate, strong roasted malt, bit cocoa and some oats. Taste is medium- sweet malt, dark and some milk chocolate, more roast, light burnt notes, dry roasty finish with medium bitterness, decent lasting. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, creamy. (bottle)

On tap at Gastronomad club. Dark brown, medium tan head. Light milky texture, light to medium body. Espresso aroma, dust, roasty, ash, dark chocolate. Sweet and drinkable. Light finish. I’m very happy because of this one.

Malziger, trocken süßer Antrunk. Geringe, leicht steigende Bitterkeit, mittelstarke Würzigkeit, rund. Gelungen. 10/10/9/9//10

On tap at K&K Milčec Zagreb. Black coloured, small to medium sized brown head, mild chocolate and oats in the nose. Light roasted malt, chocolate, mild cocoa and touch of hops with again notes of chocolate in the finish. Again nice beer from Varionica.

So, Varionica’s new stout, yay! :D On tap at K&K Milčec, was one of the first to try it, so it’s cool that I get to rate it first, despite a delay. :D Very, very, very murky extremely dark brown, effectively black normally. Off white head. Subdued aroma, malty, chocolate, maybe some toastiness... smokers prevented me from better analysis I guess. Taste... quite drinkable - very dangerously so for 6.2%, generally well rounded, though it lacks body somewhat. Light roast, very mild cocoa, a touch milky, raisins perhaps, subdued hoppy notes, lasting but weak bitterish roastiness mingling with the hop perhaps in the faftertaste, somewhat dry finish - excessively so. A very well crafted, technically flawless beer that could use some more body and a tad more pronounced taste - but that’s just my opinion, people seemed to love it! It was tweaked to the better apparently, can’t wait to try the next batch! :)
