This beer was brewed to help Pre-Funk Nampa celebrate their second anniversary. I sat down with Ryan and Heather Driscoll from Pre-Funk and we came up with the idea for an imperial coffee porter with locally roasted coffee. I designed the recipe and they found the roaster, Flying M Coffee/Concert Garage who custom roasted some Ugandan Rwenzuri Kingdom blend espresso after sampling some beer from the fermenter. We cold extracted the coffee at the brewery and added it to the beer during the transfer. The result is a rich, smooth roasty brew with bittersweet chocolate, coffee character and a clean morning cup o' joe finish. Show Less

On tap at the brewery. Murky brown pour with thin, wispy beige head. Coffee is most evident aspect of aroma and taste, but hints of chocolate arenβt too far behind. Mellow bitter palate dries out the finish. Coffee initially up front, dissipates afterwards.

On tap at prefunk Boise. Pours out dark brown almost black with a little red highlights topped with a tan head. Nose is roast malts lots of coffee chocolate sweetness. Taste is more of the heavy coffee sweet milk chocolate and plenty roast malts.

Opaque deep chocolate brown with a full tan head. Up front but soft coffee aromas, More milk chocolaty in the flavor. Quite a bit of sweetness, more like a candy bar. Smooth soft silky feel. Lots of mild roast maltiness. Lingering slight wet brown paper bag at the end. Could have used a few more IBUs I think but a very smooth and tasty chocolatey beer. Maybe my favorite from BB .
