Draught at the brewery in Hood River
Dark brown color with creamy head. Good strength and good caramel flavor, without being sweet; it’s a bit nutty, correctly bitter. Pleasant.

12oz bottle from the state store
Clear dark brown with a medium sized beige head that dissipates quickly, light lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, toasted malts with a light smokiness. Flavors of toasted malts, caramel, coffee, bready and chocolate
Nice

Bottle picked up at Supermarket Liquor in Foco. Pours a clear dark brown appearance with a thin, light brown head. In the aroma, there’s a lot of coffee, light roast, cocoa, and a bit of toffee. Medium full body. A little nutty. Light cola. Hint of graininess. Flavor is mostly chocolate, caramel, and coffee. Not too sweet. Medium light bitterness. Maybe a little herbal. Drinks pretty damn good.

Not a home run, but a god solid swing for the fence. Cola colored body, with small beige head, leaves streaky lacing. Light dark malt aroma leads to a pretty robust taste, mildly sweet, malty and dry. Finish lingers for a while, pleasant aftertaste. Nice job.

On the side there’s a best by date of 05/18/15.
This was poured into a pilsener glass.
The appearance was a nice dark brown color with a one and a half finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving a super nice looking semi-thick lacing roaming in a clingy sort of way.
The smell had a really super nice roasted nutty caramel maltiness roaming in and around a glossed over cocoa. Its really enticing.
The taste was basically the same and had a light coffee to come in on the taste and end up amplifying the roast a bit more in the aftertaste. The finish is quick and mainly dry.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good smooth roastiness rolling across my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good doppelbock I’d have again.

Bottle - I have a strong feeling that this is the same beer as the LTD06, as therecipe sounds the same and the abv and ibus are identical - anyway, at the very least I enjoy this batch a bit more than the last time I had the 06 - nose is a bit subdued, but has a decent rich maltiness, with some toffee, chocolate, and a touch of melanoidin character - fairly creamy texture - moderate to.high sweetness - a bit of odd spiciness to it, plus a slight acidity that borders on metallic - finish has some hazelnut, toffee, plus some lingering spiciness (cinnamon) - hmm...maybe not that much of an improvement over the last batch of 06, but still a slight improvement - of all the LTDs to make an annual thing, why this one?
