It was 25 years ago that we planted our flag in North County San Diego. We showed up to a modest, empty warehouse with some mighty big dreams. We thought people deserved a world with better beer, and were determined to be part of a cultural transformation we believed could happen… even though few others shared our vision. This massive triple IPA is another important milestone on our continuing journey. Speaking of journeys, for reasons you may guess, our 25th Anniversary Celebration in 2021 will be a bit understated for such a monumental anniversary, so we’ve decided to hold our big event in 2022 with the Stone 25+1 Years In The Making Anniversary Celebration. After a quarter of a century and quite a few twists and turns, we’re still here. Here for hops. Here for quality. Here for making great mistakes. Here for more good times. Here for another round. We thank you sincerely for the years of support and pledge that we will, as always, strive to live up to the reasons for your loyalty!
25 years calls for a momentous beer – this Triple IPA will not disappoint! Clocking in at 12.5%, this massively hopped IPA is a true celebration in a bottle of 25 years of exploration, innovation, and of course, great beers. Conceived originally by Kris Ketcham, Sr. Manager, Brewing & Innovation for the 7th Anniversary of Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station, this beer demanded to be amped up even more and released nationally to celebrate the Big One. Here’s to 25 more!

Lots of pine and caramel, plenty of booze. Golden pour with good head. Done well for a triple IPA but still heavy on that potency, and comes off a little barley wine like. Bitter boozy sweet finish. Can.

355ml can. Cloudy, orange, golden to amber colour with average, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Caramel malty and citrusy fruity, resinous, hoppy aroma, notes of candied lemon peel, candied orange peel, a touch of almond. Taste is immensely bitter, resinous and citrusy fruity hoppy, sweet, caramel malty backbone, zesty notes of orange peel, some candied orange peel, candied lemon peel, a mineral touch. Lingering, pungently bitter, hoppy finish with citrusy overtones and a minimally warming alcoholic touch; well hidden alcohol overall. Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, pungent palate, medium to fine, prickly carbonation. Intense and condensed, not overly diversified - decent.

Can. Color: Hazy amber, off-white head. Aroma: Floral hop, caramel notes. Taste: Floral hop. Over medium bitterness. Caramel malt background. Boozy notes. Dry-ish finish. Over medium body, just below average carbonation. Strong floral hopbitter finish with light citrus notes. Finally a brewery that dared to brew an 'old fashioned' (T)IPA focused on the delicious bitterness of hops in this modern fruity NEIPA beerworld. Exactly what I hoped and expected from Stone. Great!

Can picked up from Craft Beer Webshop, Parchim, Germany and consumed at home Wednesday 26th January 2022, listening to Steve Lamaq on 6 Music. Cooking Butter Beans, Chorizo, Paprika and Piquillo peppers with Rice for tea. Pours mid amber in colour with a mid sized lasting off-white head. Fruity nose, tropical at first but on reflection more like summer stone fruits such as peach and apricot. Full moutheel, quite thick, sweet, the aforementioned fruit reappears with apricot, prominent, there is however a background flurry of citrus and lots of big caramel and toffee flavours. On this occasion, perhaps Stone have given a bit too much thought and attention to the strength, which if so is slightly to the detriment of the bitterness and overall character of a Stone beer for me, a new version of Ruination with punchy hops fighting it out with a big malty base would have worked out better but this is good, though I can't help thinking that an aggressive DIPA would have let the Stone characteristics and attributes shine a little better methinks.

Bottle bought at Liquor Shed. Enjoy by 12/02/2021. Oops.
It pours a clear gold with a finger of foam that doesn't quit.
It smells strongly of caramel malt with a heap of hop bitterness as well.
I get grassy bitter hop bite immediately overtaken by a huge malt sweetness. Grapefruit citrus inches its way to the forefront while the caramel still maintains control. No discernable "suffering" from being past the enjoy by date. Pitted fruits seem to be in abundance.
Slick mouthfeel on my tongue.
Taste wise, the alcohol is hidden well.
Nice.
