It was 25 years ago that we planted our flag in North County San Diego. We showed up to a modest, empty warehouse with some mighty big dreams. We thought people deserved a world with better beer, and were determined to be part of a cultural transformation we believed could happen… even though few others shared our vision. This massive triple IPA is another important milestone on our continuing journey. Speaking of journeys, for reasons you may guess, our 25th Anniversary Celebration in 2021 will be a bit understated for such a monumental anniversary, so we’ve decided to hold our big event in 2022 with the Stone 25+1 Years In The Making Anniversary Celebration. After a quarter of a century and quite a few twists and turns, we’re still here. Here for hops. Here for quality. Here for making great mistakes. Here for more good times. Here for another round. We thank you sincerely for the years of support and pledge that we will, as always, strive to live up to the reasons for your loyalty!

copper golden color. Slightly alcohol burn in the nose with caramel, apricots, apples, pine and citrus notes. Very west coast. Sticky malty palate with massive bitterness. Tons of apricot crumble, citrus, very thick full body. Good depth and good job for 12.5% but no matter how good the iiipa is it impossible to make this style at 12.5% and not be too boozy. Well done one is enough. Half a can would have been sufficient.

Honey color with a large foamy orange white head. Bitter and somewhat sweet with grapefruit, perfume, Windex and a boozy presence that overwhelms. Very long finish. Moderately full bodied. I liked it less with each passing sip.

12oz can pours with a mostly clear copper gold body that supports a full light tan head of foam. The modest aroma offers up tangelo, a dash of mango and then a bit of resiny pine mixed with grapefruit. The taste delivers firm resiny pine like hop bitterness that takes on a lightly chewy goodness. The bitterness is joined by a moderate degree of grapefruit and builds further to midway. Beneath the bitterness is a pleasing citrus to slightly tropical fruit juiciness adding a nice semblance of balance to the experience. This is smooth and rewarding with little sense of the massive ABV. Stone needs to keep making beauties like this.

Bitter and boozy. Starts with Stone’s citrus-salad hop profile, then quickly slides into oily, resinous pine, attacking the palate with an incessantly bitter middle, then burns everything down with a wicked liquor heat. Good, but holy shit is this an abrasive pint. I’d expect nothing less from Stone’s 25th anniversary brew.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a deep orange copper with a finger of beige head that dissipates. Very vivid peach and gummy bear aromas on the nose. More of the same on the palate with some honey with loads more peach and nectarine notes. Lingering gummy bears, stone fruit with a finish of fruit, resin and warming alcohol.

12 ounce can from Woodman's Appleton, 9/5/21. Slightly hazy orange, large frothy beige head, good retention. Aroma of dank, resin, melon, grapefruit, tangerine. Taste is melon, tangerine, mango, resin. Strong lingering bitterness, booze well hidden but present. Overall quite nice. I miss beers like this. Thank you Stone.
