Over 60% wheat and Bavarian yeast, this soft and creamy beer is bang on the money. Its Fruity, malty with some spicy notes.

Bottle at PoW, Farnborough. Spice and caramel aroma - less of the stereotypical banana. Opaque orange amber. Bubbly white head soon shrinks away. Overly chilled - this may well contribute to the low key impact of the taste. Light sour. Citrus. Light bodied. Watery. Fizzy carb. Abrupt finish. Perfectly drinkable but far from a great example of the style.

330ml bottle @ JDW Montgomery’s Tower, Shrewsbury. Pours hazy blonde, white head. Aroma is pleasant floral wit aromatics. Taste continues with a decent floral yeasty wit character. Good balance of sweet flavours. Decent.

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy pale orange-yellow colour with a small white head which rapidly disappears. Aroma of wheat, yeast, citrus fruits, mild spicing. Flavour is wheat, tart citrus fruit mostly lemon, cloves... not getting much banana in this one. Sweet, slightly sour, with moderate bitterness. A bit overcarbonated. A good effort from Meantime but once again we Brits don’t do this style justice in my opinion.

330ml bottle at the folks, Preston. Pours clear amber, thick white head, high carbonation, but doesn’t hang around. Aromas of sweet banana, dry spices, dusty herbs. Taste is sweet, almond cake. Sticky finish.

Keg at the Grain Store, Cambridge. Orangey gold, cloudy. Very little head. Smells of banana, bubblegum, yeast rolls. The taste is overly sweet, not bad but fairly unbalanced. Meh. Short to medium finish. Drinkable but not a great wheat beer.

Keg @ Greenwich Union, Greenwich. Had this back around 2002 in my London days, so don’t remember it too much except it being a decent and deep tasting wheat, although not quite up to the Bavarian standards despite the brewer’s history of being out there.

Draft @ Il Molo in Ferrara.
