180 ml bottle sampled in 2009. Deep golden body with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malt, honey and warming alcohol. Flavor is sweet malt, honey, sugar and alcohol. Fine body with a sweet and alcoholic aftertaste. It’s a nice beer and actually tastes better than it seems from this description. Balanced sweet alcoholic.

Hazy brown beer. Short lived white head. Dry palate. Rich malt, spicy. Bitterish toffee and subtle but tart orange fruit. A little brandy in the finish. No the smoothest but a no-nonsense barleywine.

25cl bottle, courtesy of and shared with Gnoff. Ambrée, col blanc soyeux. Arôme de caramel, malt, sucré avec note de pomme. Reste caramélisé en bouche, fin houblon, sucre brun avec qcq fruits noirs, riaisns et vineux avec un peu de résine. Un peu décevante.

Medium offwhite head. Hazy orange body. Intense peachy alcoholic toffee aroma with barnyard notes. Very round and delicate. Dry-sweet alcoholic earthy toffee oranges and peach taste with malty grassy notes. Full-bodied. Rounded, sharpish mouthfeel. Dry-acidic resiny earthy toffee aftertaste with notes of oranges. Outstanding. A barley wine that’s subtle and non-obvious. (0.18l bottle shared by gr0ve.)

Bottle. Poured golden brown with a medium light brown head. Aroma was full of caramel, toffee, raisins with a bit of vanilla lying underneath. Flavor was sweet throughout and thick on the tongue.

Courtesy of madmitch76. The 6oz bottle pours crystal clear copper with gold edges and thin off white head. The aroma is full bringing up a rich combination of sweet caramel candy and dark fruity esters like dates, prunes, boysenberries and figs. Each draw ends with a touch of alcohol heat. Smells yum! The taste is very similar with a medium body ushering in rich caramel goodness mixing with dark fruity esters. It dries out a bit to midway with a touch of roasted malts and fading caramel and sweet dark fruity esters. It ends with lingering sweet caramel, prunes, dates and ripe cherries. Nice stuff.

bottle from Tuckers Maltings. Clear amber colour, oily texture, small head. Intensive malty nose. Very full-bodied, sweet malty flavours balanced off with a nice touch of fruit and some aromatic bitter hops in the lingering finish.
