A strong dark brown beer, with a malty palate and nutty overtones, that give way to a lyrical sweetness. A great beer for those long winter evenings.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. raisinny, almost vinous aroma with licorice and some earthy hops. Malty, just a bit salty, vinous and nutty flavor with licorice and some earthy hops, lingering on in the aftertaste. Tasty ale, satisfyingly balanced.

Bottle as a gift. Mid- to dark brown, translucent with lots of visible carbonation but very little head. Chocolate and oak aroma with a touch of vanilla. Bittersweet taste, slightly metallic. Finish is more bitter with horehound notes in the aftertaste. Watery body. Competent but not overly impressive.
