A strong dark brown beer, with a malty palate and nutty overtones, that give way to a lyrical sweetness. A great beer for those long winter evenings.

Appearance is very dark brown, a bit hazy, a thick half-finger beige head which lasts well. Looks good. Aroma- nutty, brown bread, treacle, dark malts, creamy malt, hop hints. Taste- smooth nutty malt, roast nuts, toffee, dark fruits, raisin, malt loaf, brown bread. Rich fruitcake. Smooth and slightly sticky mouthfeel with some bitter hops in the finish. Nice one.

Bottle at home, 27/05/16. Rich chestnut to mahogany brown with a decent beige cap of bubbles that retains well. Nose is rich malt, straw, grain, toffee, dark fruit esters, light spice. Taste comprises fruit loaf, dates, brown sugar, brown bread, light spice, treacle toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with balanced bitterness. Decent flavoursome English Strong ... goes well with cheddar.

500ml bottle. Dark brown appearance with a small dissipating tan head. Malty aroma, caramel, earthy notes, dark fruit, hint of chocolate. Taste follows the aroma, also a slight nutty flavour and light roast. Slightly sweet with a lightly bitter finish.

Cask at William Jolle (Spoons), Northwood Hills. A dark brown/ruby coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Malty, caramel, dark fruit aroma. Tastes the same, malty, caramel, dark fruit, slightly nutty (like me). One of the better UK festive brews available.
