Re-rating (previous 6.4) Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 10A). Bottle 50cl - Batch 1711071 (BBF 07-2021). AROMA: low wheat malt aroma with some mild sweet notes and phenolics (spices). APPEARANCE: light gold color and a bit hazy. large moussy white head with average retention. TASTE: medium-low wheat malt background with some spicy phenolics. MOUTHFEEL: medium body with average-high carbonation. OVERALL: an average festweisse a bit more complex than the traditional Erdinger weizen.

Bottle from Supervalu, Longford [141014]
Orange yellow, hazy, dense foamy white head. Nose of vague fruits, slight citrus and light sweet malts. Taste of soft pale malts and creamy wheat, slight fruits, not much going on, rather plain, little of the usual hefeweizen flavours. Seems to be more like a wheaty lager. Medium carb and body. Fairly sweet. Finish as main flavour, some creamy wheat, rather rapid finish. Overall found this dull, bit lacking in flavour, did have some nice creamy wheat and was easy drinking for the abv. I think I prefer it to the normal Erdinger.

Bottle from Londonderry Quick Stop. Pours a hazy light golden color with a huge bubbly frothy white head that persists forever. Aromas of rich bready malt, banana and a bit of earthy funk. The flavor is bready and fruity with bits of banana and lemony spice. Medium body moderate to high level of carbonation. Decent brew, but I was fooled by the Oktoberfest moniker, I wasn’t trying to grab a six pack of Hefeweizen.

50 cl bottle. 5.7%. Hazy hellow color, nice white head, good lacing. Aroma is bready, grainy, doughy wheat, with some fruity notes of banana and yellow fruit, vanilla, yeast. Taste is sweetish, tart, dusty. Carbonation is sustained, medium body, fizzy, short mineral finish, sensible alcohol. Quite OK.

Lecker!
Test vom 9.11.2010, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,13,12,12,12,12 - 12,15

Bottle picked up from somewhere (Jude & Baz?) consumed at home Friday 29th November 2013 Hazy warm gold with a white head. Bit sweet, a little bit of cereal and vanilla the sweetness is like honey drizzled over a boring plain yoghurt, yeasty and wheaty. Its absolutely fine but doesn’t make me think I need another.
