The Duck-Rabbit Barleywine is the hoppiest of all the Duck-Rabbit brews. This is a Farmville-style Barleywine, crafted the way brewers in Farmville have always done. Loads of Amarillo hops give a piney citrusy bitterness that’s supported beautifully by a toffee malt backbone.

12 oz. bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Copper to red color, big tan head than lasts quite a while. Aroma’s of dried fruits, citrussy hops, resin, caramel/sticky toffee. Flavor is only lightly sweet, fruity, with a starting hop-bitterness. Alcohol is warming. Finishes a bit dry and bitter. Typical US barley wine, pretty good.

Received in trade from KarrHeel03, thanks for the opportunity! I believe this bottle is from Feb 2009 Pours a dark brown with a great looking garnet hue when held to light, tightly bubbled off white head peaks out but retreats under the bed with the cats. Smells mostly of sweet dark fruit with a touch of alcohol. Cherries prunes and a bit of brown sugar in there. Taste follows the smell. Alcohol soaked cherries rolled in brown sugar and lightly caramelized sums it up pretty well. Finish is rather dry with a lingering almost sweet and sour fruit. Thick body, light carbonation, sweet sticky mouthfeel. I really liked this one. Its a nice take on an English style barleywine, I wish I could get my hands on some more to lay down...

Bottle with a best before of 02/11 (looks like I just missed it) via a trade. Pours with a muddy brown-bronze body and a slowly fading off-white head. Aromas of dark fruits, tobacco, caramel and pine. A bit of sherry, fresh pineapple, vanilla and toffee. Light alcohol. Seems in perfect shape. Flavors of raw pineapple, strong bitterness, light baked apple, toffee, sherry, paper or a nuttiness (peanutshells). Some alcohol. Fruity (pears and fresh plum). Big viscosity. Lightly vinous. Medium to low carbonation.

Bottle thanks to dkachur! Pours a slightly hazy earthy amber with a thin yellowish brown head that dissipated rapidly to the edges. Aroma has a surprisingly strong pine hop presence with some caramel and a bit of earthy grains and grass. Flavor began with earthy grains, hay and a bit of grass with a bit of a pine bite coming through in the finish.
