The Duck-Rabbit Porter is very dark in color. This robust ale features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. WBF-Raleigh. Dark ruby brown body with a small tan head. Sweet roasted malt aroma. Strong coffee and roasted malt flavor.

An opaque brown beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of chocolate, and hints of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with quite strong notes of chocolate as well as light roasted notes, though the roasted notes disappear before the end is reached, which is smooth and chocolaty.

Bottle from Suttree. Deep opaque brown body, medium tan-ochre head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, licorice, and dark burnt sugars. Bitter body with strong coffee and roasted malts, the primary characteristic being sharp, distracting carbonation. A dry porter, a bit thin-bodied, but pretty good.

Bottle from ross - dark reddish brown pour with minimal head/lacing - woody/roasty aroma, with hints of espresso and cream - slightly sweet throughout, tempered by a mild, earthy tartness - coffee beans mixed with vanilla, milk and toffee - reminds me of some of the better british porters I’ve had - doesn’t quite live up to those, but it’s close.

Bottle from trade with Ross Nose of coffee, malt, and a tiny vanilla note; color transparent cherry brown with a small tan head; Nice hop bite as it hits your tongue with a coffee, malty, chocolate hint flavor.

Nearly black colour. Rich aroma is chocolatey, fruity, vinous, molassesy. Flavour is gentler, softened by a brown sugar note, but maintains an enticing complexity of molasses, milk chocolate and light winey notes. Creamy, full mouthfeel. Sweet, complex finish. Bloody good - I’d put this up against anyone’s porter.

Bottle. Burnt caramel, cola and ash aroma. Opaque black brown with slight film of a head. Smokey mocha coffee flavor primarily - mild sweetness with a moderate hops finish. High acidity and moderate carbonation. I really like the smoke flavor - reminds me of a campfire.

2005 bottle from Suttree drunk on 12/15/2005. Pours a deep, dark brown, transluscent, though settling out clear eventually, with no sediment on the bottom and forced carbonated as their other beers. Head is tan and thick, well-lasting, though not lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, sweet toffee, buttercream, caramel and a mild roastiness. No real hops noticeable. The aroma is of moderate strength and quite sweet overall, lacking any yeast or alcohol apparency. Flavor is again quite sweet, a not very bashful mix of milk chocolate, toffee, cream, light caramel sugars and mild roast. Light nuttiness and a touch of graininess on the end. It’s very strong and flavorful, and the sweetness is balanced, at least somewhat, by a non-bitter roast and light warmth of alcohol that lingers in the background. Touch of vanillin and dry earthiness. Medium-full bodied, moderately carbonated and overall quite smooth, lightly creamy of texture. Not as thick in the mouth as it could be, no doubt from the filtration, but flavorful to the end.
