Bottle. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is honey, pale malts, bready yeasts. Taste is more honey, bready, a touch lemon, some straw. Silky mouthfeel with natural carbonation. Decent, but not amazing, also a bit too sweet. 6-3-6-3-10Bottle again, much better this time. Overall score was definitely undervalued last time - this is really süffig, though still a bit too sweet. Definitely a solid Kellerbier, it has enough lemony hops in there to give a balance to the sweet maltiness.

Cask at the GBBF 2017. Day 3. 10/08/2017. A light hazed bright yellow straw coloured pour with a fine white head. Aroma is semi sweet, cereal malts, honey, Nobel hop. Flavour is composed of semi sweet honey, crisp pils, little straw, apple,.. Palate is crisp, moderate carbonation, soft. Good stuff.

Bottle at GBBF 2017. Hazy pale gold colour lasting white head. Bready cereal aroma. Good lemon on flavour. Lemon curd. Good in mouth. Lovely in mouth. Lovely lemon hoppy finish. Good kellerbier. Tasty.

Süß-herber Start. Wenig hefig-getreidig, die Süße bleibt im Vordergrund. Weich getreidiger, eher milder Mittelteil, etwas zuckrig. Nie wieder auch nur etwas herb werdend, monoton. 8/7/8/8/9/8

0.5l bottle in a bavarian beer set from marktkauf/edeka. pours a slightly hazy pale golden with a medium head. aroma of hay, spicy malts, like an export/helles. flavour is rather malty, also very export-like. grains, bread, hay. slightly oily and soapy mouthfeel. nothing extraordinary here.

Hazy yellow with little white head. Aroma is grass herbs slight gummy bears straw slight dms. Taste is hop bitterness with some uncanny oily stuff. Watery and a bit stale. Not fresh. Meh.

From a sixpack of different Bavarian beers received as a gift from a colleague, cheers Glenn! Now apparently with a different label (different picture and name changed to Kellerbier Hell, to distinguish it from the Dunkel version, I assume), at 5% ABV. Densely moussy, irregularly lacing, egg-white, creamy head, fairly stable and only slowly showing gaps in the middle, crowning a straw blonde beer with somewhat greenish hue, equally hazy as is to be expected from a Kellerbier, with tiny pearls of carbonation rising up here and there. Rather unusual aroma of cooked Brussels sprouts (clearly something sulfuric that should not be there - even reminiscent of H2S when warming up), damp cloth, soggy sandwiches, melting butter, dough, raw spinach leaves, potato starch, hot camomile tea, chalk, straw, unripe banana peel, pond water, rubber. Soft, rounded onset, minerally notes (as in magnesium-rich sparkling water), some very restrained fruitiness (hint of pear) due to the yeast and in that sense logically less neutral than a filtered lager, but lacking a bit in refinement compared with the great Franconian Kellerbiere; carbonation is medium. Some basic grainy sourishness underlies a more mellow, bready malt body, mouthfeel remains soft, smooth and notably soapy, overall impression is dryish, as expected from the style. The finish brings an extra touch of breadiness due to the yeast, lingering soap or butter flavors and floral hops, providing a light bitterness accentuated by the minerals. Pale malt sweetishness with a yeasty touch remain dominant after swallowing. Very thirst-quenching and even appetizing beer, but the heavily sulfuric ’stinky’ sprouts in the nose are not the most elegant impression I’ve encountered in a Kellerbier so far - this is not the most appealing representative of its style, I’m afraid. Still passable for its quenching qualities alone.

At Internationales Berliner Bierfestival 2016. Hazy yellow with a white head. On the sweet side with malt, grain and hay. Also some mild herbs in the finish. An ok one.

Hazy pale golden with a lasting white head. Weak, clean malty aroma with a hint of herbal hops. Sweetish malty flavour with a slightly dusty note. The clean, crisp character tells me it’s a great beer fresh on tap
