Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized good lacing quite creamy medium to dark brown head that lasts for quite a long time. Aroma is malts, some roasted malts, slightly earthy. Taste malts, roasted malts, firm bitter, lightly earthy, bitter hops. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle @ benzai. Pitch black colour with a large sized dark brown head. Smells sweet, roasty. Tastes salmiak, liquorice, overly sweet, raisins, alcohol. Too much carbo, also a bit thin even though it’s a medium body. This is just not my type of imperial stout.

Thanks WillRun for sharing this unrated State tick! 12oz bottle, awesome bottle art. Not quite pitch dark. Smell is roasty as Hell. chocolate fudge, peanuts, almond, oak. Great taste. Roast forward, unsweetened chocolate, some ginger. very little booze. Pretty delicious. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ivan the Terrible Imperial Stout - Bourbon Barrel on 10 Nov 2017 at 19:59 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. Original review text: 2016 75CL from AFH. Thanks man for bringing this and sharing. Completely black, nice booze legs, 2 finger espresso head. This smells fantastic. it's already a great stout. has a load of extra vanilla and wood. mouthfeel is farily thin with an oily chocolate flavor and a nice roasted wood finish. there's a sweet grape flavor here, sweet finish, cocoa, wood vanilla. Tasty but thin considering the ABV.

Bottle. Almost black with a tan head that’s soon less than a coat. Aroma of roasted barley and molasses, some plum and coconut, chicory. Medium bodied, oily, lowish carbonation. Sweet with mild roast, plums, chicory. Alcohol is not obvious. Not oversweet, so the moderate bitterness pops out nicely at the end. No deep booming flavours. Quite nicely balanced, but a balance of not a whole lot. But it’s pleasant enough.

[2/19/15] Draught at Beachwood BBQ in Long Beach. Black with a tan head. Aroma of roast, licorice, alcohol and a bit of coffee. Roasty flavor, sweetish, a bit salty, with licorice and alcohol. Medium to full-bodied. Way too boozy.

Nice and smooth RIS, does not come off as heavy and boozy as others in this category. Lots of cocoa, roast grains, mild sweetness, masks the ABV completely. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ivan the Terrible Imperial Stout - Bourbon Barrel on 04 Sep 2016 at 11:43 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8.5. Original review text: Bottle from Albertsons. 2015 vintage. Big, sticky black pour, small beige head. Boozy aroma, lots of wood barrel character. Maybe because I hadn’t had one in awhile, but this was extremely tasty. Really hit all of the marks. 5/5/28 enjoyed this 2009 vintage on Eric's porch, talking the night away, enjoying the whole bottle, not just a taster. Still great. 8/25/18 2010 vintage....
