This beer is one of a kind! Four different malted barleys combine to create a distinctive, full-bodied beer with a roasted nuttiness, uniquely enhanced by a hint of hazelnuts. Smooth and creamy with the nose of the Williamette hop, this porter is a beer style unto itself.

Brown color with tan ring. Aroma is very nutty, hazelnuts obviously, some chocolate. Taste is the same, but has a bit of a rusty feeling. Ok.

Bottle from Epsom Circle Market. Aroma is interesting roasted hazelnut with hints of chocolate, a little bit like cigarette ash. Appearance is nice deep clear reddish brown with 1-2 finger width creamy beige head with good retention and moderate lacing. Taste is as aroma--rich hazelnuts with hints of chocolate and smokiness, well balanced bitter and sweet. Palate is medium bodied, moderately thick and creamy, with a tad too much carbonation that bites the front of the tongue. Pleasant moderately long smokey bitter finish. Overall, this scores pretty well on every front--a real diamond in the rough! Not the most complex, but tasty.

Bottle. A- Hazelnuts, chocolate, roasty, toffee. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Hazelnuts, slightly malty, cocoa, roasted, nutty, toffee. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, nutty finish. O- Pretty darn good, but not quite great. The hazelnut aroma and taste is great especially at the front, but the taste fades and leaves you with a not so great after taste. Nonetheless, this is a pretty solid brew, that with a few tweaks would be really damn good. The hazelnut is very welcomed, but it’s just lacking and not quite complex enough.
