Orangey brown, medium pitted bubbly head. Chocolate and caramel aroma, a touch of ginger cookies. Perfectly balanced, a whiff of sweetness flows into a moderately hopped finish. Palate is light and smooth, not overly carbonated. A touch toward bland, butOK. Definitely simple.

Bottle: Dark reddish brown, thin, but lacing off-white head; distinctive malty nose, some traces of roasted malts ,molasses ,a tinge of raisins and port in the aroma; quite dry, malty, coffeeish taste, smooth mouthfeel; slight chocolatey-bitter finish. Very pleasant, a very good Bavarian Dunkel !

Sampler from bottle at Binny’s, Orland Parh, Another beer at a Binny’s tasting that’s just coming out here in the states. Deep malty smell and a respectable brown body. Deep malt taste, too. Just a little bit of fruitiness, perhaps a touch of figs, caramel, etc. Really too much malt to allow any hops to wander in.

Bottle date 11 10 05 $2.75 at New Beer Distributors in NYC. This looks better than it tasted. Nice large off-white head that formed over a clear brown body. Light yeast aroma that led intop a lightly sweet flavor profile that finished with a bit of sourness. Light body that bordered on watery. This really lacks the maltiness and richness that a good Dunkel should have.

(Bottle 50 cl) Reddish brown with a small off-white head. Light malt-character and a very light, dry body with a very unusual underlying sourness. No real hoppiness, but a very short, dry finish. Very unusual Dunkel, but a very quenching one. 260505

Leicht malziger Antrunk und Mittelteil. Relativ süffig, aber igendwie dann doch nicht mein Ding obwohl ich nichts großes zu kritisieren hab. Test vom 17.3.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,7,7,6,8,8 - 7,50

A red-brown beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of caramel and straw. The flavor is sweet though with a slight sour tinge. The flavor contains notes of caramel, citrus, roasted malt, and slight hops.

Bottle. Sweet molasses malt aroma - slighty smoky. Medium cola brown - little head. Sweet syrupy malt flavor. A bit too much on the sweet side for me.

Sampled draught at Helsinki Beer Festvial.
Mahogany colour. Fine malt aroma bordering to raisiny. Clean stable maltiness with soft mouthfeel and a raisiny mild finish.

Malty, caramel, chocolate. This is a sweeter example, with is very smooth, which takes the edge off.
