Bottle. Fruity malt nose, roast aromatic hops. Red chestnut, golden lacing head. Good chewy malt base, dried fruit, roast and caramel stays elegantly in the background. Light flowery notes towards the finish. Bit light on the exit. Very enjoyable.

Bottle. Poured brown. Both taste and aroma were strongly raisin, maybe a little coffee. Tasted thin, but an enjoyable drink overall.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is toffee and dark fruit looks and smells good so far. Flavor is again a nice helping of dark fruit, molasses and a earthyness that lastes after the swallow. A very tasty dunkel and i wish more were like this one.

Bottle. Dark amber color with a fluffy light brown head. Malt and light chocolate notes in the aroma. Flavour is full of roasted malts, cocoa and loads of sweetness. Ends on a malty note.

Bottled, 1 liter swing-top bottle. Clear, copper-colored with a beige head. Weak aroma with malt and caramel. Malt and caramel in the flavor as well. A bit too thin body. Pleasant and quaffable but a bit boring. (061013)

Dark black/brown color with a thin thick light brown head. Sweet chocolate caramel smell. Taste was a chocolate caramel with hint of nuts.

(bottle) Clear dark brown color with a ruby shine and a foamy off-white medium head. Light-sweet dark malty nose with toasted bread, chocolate and liquorice. Light sweet, toast-malty and slightly crusty taste, medium body, smooth mouthfeel; dry and bitter finish with herbal hops and traces of chocolate and liquorice in the aftertaste. Good.

Pours a deep orange/mahogany. Micro head disspates with no lacing. Date and fig aromas. Up front caramel that quickly turns bitter with sour metallic aftertaste. Palate is lively -- almost burning.

This beer is not as powerful as I expected, but is like marzen. The aroma is surprisingly light with smoke and roasted malt. Dark brown with a large head. Fairly heavily carbonated for the style. Simple flavor of roasted malt. Not really sweet at all. Good palate, not very heavy and not thin. A simple but well crafted beer. The bottle is one month past the best by date.
