Cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 18 October. Poured a clear chestnut with a thin white head and good lacing. Aroma is slightly spice with abundant caramel and malts. Flavours of cinnamon, fruit cake and orange peal. Finished with dry grain, peppery spice and astringent bitter resin.

Cask at the Mail Rooms, Ross On Wye, 17/10/13. Clear copper with a good sized light beige head. Nose is on the thin side, dark malt, light toffee strains, faint fruit notes. Taste picks up with a bittle more depth in the form of biscuit malt, toffee, fruity tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, smooth on the palate. Ok stuff, this one picked up from the thin nose.

Cask at Wetherspoons, Reading. Deep amber-ruby with a thin off- white head. Blackberry leaves, blackcurrant, and toffee on a crisp autumn evening when youโre kicking through crunchy leaves on your way to the local bonfire night celebrations. Dry finish. Satisfying and fulfilling, a perfect beer for this time of year. I liked this!

Wetherspoon Autumn Beer Festival. A reddish coloured ale with a creamy head. It has superbly roasted malts giving it a fine and slightly burnt character.

Bottle from Asda. Auburn red in colour with a bubbly head. It has a grainy sweet aroma but the grain really comes into its own within the taste as its very tasty.
