It is a sophisticated, satiny smooth and full flavoured beer. It has a rich fruity wine-like complexity with flavours of fresh and dried fruits, warm exotic spice and mellow summer fruity notes.

20/8/2025. Cask at the 46th Peterborough Beer Festival. Good pour. Toffee, woody, marzipan, dried fruit, fruit cake, touch spiced aroma. Very smooth. Sweet initially, with long drying bitterness. Good body. Enjoyed this.

Old rating from 14-06-15 - 330ml bottle from Dunell's in Jersey. Pours brown with a off white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of toffee, dark fruits, herbs, banana & a fair amount of alcohol. Medium body. Sweet moderate bitter finish. I didn't enjoy this at all & it was hard to finish

Bottled. I can’t believe this is listed as a barley wine cause it tastes more like a bock to me, Pours a reddish brown. Aroma is caramel and syrup. Very light in the mouth, a bit of a hops kick and some carbonation. Pretty durned good.

Bottle. I would have classified this as a "Wee Heavy", but anyway a very tasty beer. Love the dark color and the aroma has a pleasant "comfortable" smell about it. Highly recommended and would have again and again.

Sharp cereal malts, lots of caramel, dark fruit and soft charry notes with a hint of grassy hops in the finsh. Good carbonation, and a perfect mouth feel. To me though, this leans closer to an english style barley wine.
