From a 750 ml bottle. Except for the first pour, which was clear, floaters were in annoying abundance. Aromas of raisins and toffee. Flavors are sweet but with a fairly light body. Decent after 7 years.
0,75 litre Bottle, at Fermentoren, shared with Bergstaden. Brown with offwhite head. Malts, hops, yeast, Caramel, oxidation, sweetness.

(Bottle) Dark amber colour with dense, beige head. Malty, slightly fruity nose with caramel, dried fruit, apricot marmalade, toast, candy sugar and autumn leaves. Malty, vinous taste with notes of caramel, toast, apricot marmalade, orange peel, dried fruit, marzipan, candy sugar, a touch of yeast and a mild floral, herbal bitterness in a vinous finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty, harmonious and quite well balanced. Nice one.

One of the many AleSmith Decadence vintages, five years old now and intended as a “Belgian amber” ale; thanks to Steve for sharing. Medium thick, off-white, slowly opening, shred-lacing head on a misty orangey amber beer with peachy hue. Aroma of soggy rusk, peaches, caramel, old sherry (maderisation in this case, the bottle is five years old now), biscuit, allspice, figs soaked in cognac, almond purée, rosemary, brown rum, white chocolate, varnish, cloves. Sweetish, fruity onset, peachy notes next to some banana, apple peel and apricot, fizzily carbonated with a supple, bit vinous body; rusk- and dry cookie-like malt core with peanutty edge and a slight touch of hazelnut, spicy aspects reminiscent of clove, allspice and thyme; lots of warming, brandy-ish alcohol in the end, with lingering caramelliness, biscuitiness and spiciness, while that clear, yet elegantly ornamental sweet sherry-like oxidation aspect returns retronasally. I see very little connection with Belgian brewing traditions here – except perhaps for very strong winter ales like Dolle’s Stille Nacht or Dubuisson’s Bush Prestige, but even then it would have probably been more effective to call this a barleywine rather than just an ‘amber ale’. Whatever the case, very decent old school AleSmith quality for sure, glad I tried this one.

Nice slightly hazy amber and deep robust brown coloured body with a nice two to three centimetre tall off-white head that fades relatively fast. Aroma of brown sugar, caramel, toffee, earthy malts, some biscuits, grain and breadie yeast with a touch of raisins and figs with some pitted fruits around the edges. Medium-bodied; Super robust sweet flavours from the brown sugar with a lot of toffee, earth, grain and a good deal of nuts and earth, but the pitted fruits, figs and dates are all noticeable with a light malty flavour without any pungency or astringency at all. Aftertaste shows the sweetness and grainy flavours from the pitted fruits, malt, nuts and earthy sides of things without any astringency, punch, alcohol or bitterness - the flavours have faded amazingly well and the robust and nice flavours still persist throughout. Overall, a great beer that has aged very well with time that shows some super mild alcohol flavours but the robust pitted fruits, malt and caramel flavours persist in a nice way. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Fair Lakes, Virginia on 16-February-2016 for US$14,99 sampled a bit more than three years later on 16-March-2019 and definitely is good enough to drink right now, if you still have a bottle of this around!

Ligeras maderas. Cuerpo medio con buena sensación alcohólica, bastante sabor. Buena densidad. Bastante buena para repetir.

Süß klebriger Geruch, Marmelade. Erstaunlicherweise kaum süß sondern eher trocken im Antrunk, Marmelade, hell hopfig-herb auf geringem Level. Zunehmend Alkohol, laffer Nachhall. 9/6/8/7/11/7
