31/5/2024. From cask at the 37th Colchester Real Ale and Cider Festival. Pours clear dark amber with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma is malty, fruity, twiggy, caramel. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, average to soft carbonation. Not bad.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2017, [ Great British Beer Festival 2017 ], London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX.[ As Portobello Carnival Pale ].Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy - fizzy and open, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, light to moderate yeasty, fruity yeast, UK yeast. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, toasted, pale malt, sweet malt - biscuit malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20170809] 5-3-6-3-12

Pours a light hazy copper gold colour with a small off white head that settled to a thin film. Aroma is malt, caramel, doughy bread and a little citrus. A sweetish malty taste, caramel and grapefruit hop bitterness.

Cask. Slightly hazy golden color with creamy white head. Aroma is grassy, earthy, toffee. Taste is bitter toffee, grapefruit, bitter finish. Super-creamy cask mouthfeel. Surprisingly good.

Cask at the angel. Pours golden, nose is caramel, toffee, hint of fruit, taste is sweet toffee, juicy lemon, light biscuit.

Cask at GBBF’17, day three, 10/08/17. Clear golden to copper with a decent off white head. Nose is bread dough, straw, mellow citric peel. Taste comprises melon, citric tinged straw, light bread dough, pale malts, lemon rind. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Looks and feels good but lacks at the business end.

Sampled @ GBBF 2017, Day 2. A dark golden beer with a small off-white head. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel. Taste of caramelish malt, biscuit, medium bitterness.
