Hercules Double IPA is not for the faint of heart. It is, however, fit for the gods. Hercules delivers a huge amount of hops from start to finish. Its hefty backbone of nutty, malty sweetness balances its aggressive hop profile.

Can from ABV. Hazy amber body with a few flecks floating beneath a thick off-white head. Low carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of caramel, earth and honey. Flavour of earth, toffee, menthol and pine. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Restrained and tasty - but not the world class DIPA I was hoping for.

Can from Moscow Co-op. Medium amber with a small, clingy head. Aroma comes in with some sweet malts, and taste comes in bigger, malty and bitter. Hop bite lingers for a while. Tons of caramel and toffee.

Typisk old school rivig västkust-DIPA, men hade gärna sluppit de brända tonerna...

Can 33 cl. Golden, hazy with a white head. Tropical fruit aroma, grapes and some floral sense. Medium bitter with a good hop end.

355ml can. Pours clear deep amber with a small beige head. Aroma is nutty, caramel, pine, citrus. Taste is initially very malt forward, very nutty, caramel, toffee, hops start to come through with pine, citrus fruits, grapefruit, herbal, quite a strong boozy note to it with a big bitterness on the finish. Perhaps my can is a little old, but this for me is a rating that's well under the average for what is a highly rated beer in general, a rare thing for me.

Clear medium amber colour, tall frothy off-white head, good retention, heavy lacing. Aroma pale malts, orange, tangerine; smooth taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, fruity, light caramel, pine resin. Malty bittersweet aftertaste, earthy touch, fruity notes, warming alcohol, dry bitter end. Full-bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation, excellent, a joy to drink but beware for the abv, a fine and sturdy IPA.
