Bottle from Craft Brewed. Pours a clear, deep gold with a finger of foam that lingers. Lots of toasted bread in the nose with some light caramel and grass notes. More malty goodness on the palate, soft carbonation and water with a well-rounded mouthfeel, but not as crisp as I like. Low bitterness on the finish.

Tasting @ Tim's. Pours quite clear amber, just a bit of foam on top. Caramel nose with some spices, if you said this was a pumpkin beer, I would believe you. Taste caramelly, light bitterness and quite full sweetish body. Pumpkin spices, actually really characterful, great sample for the style.

Not a bad marzen, heavy on the caramel and nutty side of the equation yet not indulging in any overpowering sweetness. Opens with a quick burst of caramel malt tinged with toffee and bread, then quickly dries out thanks to the floral noble bitterness. Never grows cloy, and offers up modest apple esters underneath the Werthers-ish malt notes. Good color, but lacks much head or lacing. Texture's right for a festbier, perky yet slack enough for heavy imbibing. Tasty regardless.
