Crafted as a flavorful session beer and perfect for autumn, Octoberfest spends a full six weeks fermenting.

With herbal hop aromas, this balanced amber lager focuses on lightly toasted malt that lends body without too much sweetness. Perfect for a week-long wedding celebration in Germany or the start of the Michigan autumn.

Bottle. Copper color, with a thin white head. Overall this beer was only decent, especially compared to other Bells beers. It was a little spicy, but just okay.

This beer sucks, what a disappointment. The aroma is very light and what is there is light malt. I don’t get the carmel or other aromas I generally get with an Oktoberfest, in fact there is very little there at all. Boring appearance, looks filtered, hardly any head at all. Full bodied it ain’t; it is thin an watery. While it might have redeemed itself with flavor, here it falls terribly short as well. It tastes like a full bodied miller light, none of the malty nuances found in a quality Oktoberfest. Maybe the first time I have really disliked a Bell’s beer. Draught at the Happy Gnome, St. Paul.

On tap at the Eccentric Cafe. Slightly hazy orange body, medium off-white head. Aroma of candy corn and caramel, balanced by grassy hops. Sweet, cerealy body, toasty. Apparently uses the same yeast as the Consecrator Doppelbock, lending a unique perfumey, fruity character to the beer. Light grassy hops finish. Hints of caramel, but these light. Rather pedestrian, lacking the layered malty depths of some of the better German examples, but it is well-balanced.
