Our Steam Lager is one of our most popular lines and you’re likely to see it on tap in many different establishments around Norfolk and beyond. Technically our Steam Lager is a hybrid beer – which means it’s brewed with lager yeast, but at ale temperatures. Combined with our special selection of hops – including Cascade and Bravo – this gives it a special malty quality with notes of citrus, as well as a deep caramel colour. We’ve gone the extra mile to give Steam Lager that special little something to set it apart from the rest.

On tap in The Paxton, West Norwood London: 18th Nov 2016. Really enjoyed my half pint of this. Orange hue to the light copper/golden body, white head. Malts rule the nose and taste, toffee like in nature but not overly sweet. My sweet tooth took to the beer straight away: easy drinking and almost interesting flavour wise. My wife liked it too: she had two halves while I moved along the taps to rate something else.

On keg tap at the Cambridge Blue. Dark gold and clear with a film of white head on top. Suggestion of gluey malt with some heather and straw. Sweetish taste with a messy acrid note. Finish isn’t so clean either, there’s some unfortunate sticky vegetal notes. Long bitter-acrid aftertaste. Problematic. I have a new least favourite Redwell beer which is a damn shame.

Can at home, 01/04/16 - no joke! Golden orange with a well appointed off white covering that retains well. Nose is airy malts, grain, straw, orange peel, light caramel, bread dough. Taste comprises a tarte citric edge, bready malts, sweet and sour tones, caramel, grain, pissoi green berry whisper. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok for style ... carries a kind of tarte/sour edge to it that makes it interesting but not sure if intentional !?!

Canned. Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is fruity, nectary, some mild toffee as well as some earthy and mild grainy notes. Flavour is mild fruity and nectary notes with a nice sweet caraemlly touch to it. Balanced and pleasant, with a mild sweet maltiness meeting a slight bitterness in the finish. Refreshing and good session beer.

Can from Beers of Europe. My 50th Norfolk rate. Pale amber with a rapidly vanishing off-white head and a middling fizz. Pleasant bready malts and orange up front- quite liked it at first. My rating declined somewhat as I hit the grassy bitterness in the finish. Ok overall.

330ml can. Barely clear, deep golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Grassy and herbal spicy hoppy aroma, notes of weed, moss and ... damn, a whole bunch of weed. Taste is initially grassy, spicy and minimally fruity hoppy, hints of orange and orange zest, later more and more earthy, hints of moss and weed. More hemp in the aroma than some of the hyped, intentionally hemp-processing beers. Nice spiciness.
