750mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark rusted red with a small white head. Aroma has plenty of raspberries and apricots, with a touch of the vanilla, and moderate funk. Flavour is quite acidic but definitely complex, with tons of raspberries, a bit of apricot, and moderate-to-high acidity. Complex for sure but maybe a bit too acidic. Excellent nevertheless.

From bottle at Wild Festival 2021. 2019 vintage. Big tart raspberry aroma with funk, various red fruits, notes of strawberry and redcurrant. Puckering sourness, light acidic. Medium body. Exemplary.

Raspberry lambic (‘framboise’) flavoured with vanilla and apricot kernels, one of those Bokke blends that made this blendery so highly regarded (and coveted); dating back to 2016 and therefore eight years old at the time of sampling. Medium thick, initially quite stable but eventually dissolving, ‘dirty’ pinkish off-white, moussey, regular head on a misty burgundy-tinged deep vermillion red robe, cloudy and a tad brownish-hued in the end (even more burgundy – perhaps also a sign of age in this case). Intense aroma of red raspberries in the most real and pure way, raspberry vinegar, sour tomatoes (a typical raspberry side effect for me), wet old wood, indeed moist apricot kernels, raspberry bush leaves, freshly cut celery, hints of passionfruit, old oxidized dry rosé wine, stale lemon juice, roses, damp earth. Sharply tart onset, pure and pungent raspberry acidity with a bit of their sweetness, lemony around the edges, sour grape and redcurrant effects; still lively carbonation, with this stewed and sour tomato effect – from those raspberries – spreading out over a drying lactic layer and slender cereally core. Lots of vivid fruitiness (and fruit acidity) remains, while the wood and apricot kernels add elegant tannic effects and dryness; slight oxidation is there retronasally, but also, for a very brief moment only, a glimpse of the vanilla that was added – but faded after eight years to such an extent that you will miss it in the blink of an eye. Ends with some earthy, farmlandy notes too, but the brightness and vibrant tartness of the raspberries prevail till the last drop. Very rich in fruit as expected from a Bokke fruit lambic, sharp, acidic and tannic yet very elegant and ‘apéritif’-like, even oddly ‘fresh’ after eight years in the bottle – but, and this may or may not be due to the vanilla faded into almost nothing, not the single best fruit lambic I ever had, contrary to its position in that category on this very site.

Bottle thanks to Dan. Pours a cloudy ruby orange with small off white head. The aroma is strong berry, oak, funk, cherry skin. Slick body, fruit punch, light funk, very balanced, light acidity, really enjoyed this.
