Bottle, thx to Meilby. It pours a slightly unclear body, dark reddish brown and with a two-finger, dense, beige head leaving some lacings. Dried fruits like prunes and raisins, some alcohol, a touch of caramel and bread, hints of oxidation or at least something similar, in the aroma. Complex and pleasant. Some bitterness too. Meaty maybe. The flavor is maybe a bit heavy on the alkohol, I guess some ageing would mellow it a bit, but that might also mellow the bitterness which are at pleasant levels. Lots of flavors here, prunes, dark berries, caramel, breadyness, some roasted notes and licorice. Full-bodied and warming, pleasantly carbonated. I remember judging the homebrewed edition best in the finals last year, that one was fantabolous, actually one of the best beers I had for a long time. This edition isn’t equally good, but sure a complex and tasteful one. 110516

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear dark amber with a small off-white head. Interesting aroma of dark fruits, brown sugar and perfumy coriander - blending in pretty well though. Solid body, sweet roast and dark fruits with some licorice and again some spiciness. Actually some hops in the finish. Nice alright. 100511
