Next up, a lager. There are two schools of thought here, you can either keep it classic and nail the colours of Germany or the Czech Republic to the mast, or you can freestyle. Lost Lager is the best of both worlds. BrewDog Head of Production Jason Pond has spent months dialling in a brand new dry-hopped pilsner that has, at its heart, two secret weapons.

The first is the contemporary German hop variety Saphir – renowned for a vibrancy of citrus and stone fruit. The second is the deployment of lager yeast from the world-beating Weihenstephan. Conditioned for 28 days, Lost Lager is destined to be a crisp, clean pilsner with hints of spice and a zesty lime marmalade character. Prepare to lose yourself at the end of the month.

Can. Not quite clear pale gold with a white head that collapses to an inch. 3+ Aroma is grainy with lemon, grass and herbs. Not as clean as hoped and too much lemon but nicely judged bitterness. OK.

Bottled 330ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb. Yellow coloured, medium sized airy white head, grassy nose. Grassy, weak herbal hoppy, notes of grain and rather short dry bitter finish. Rather average.

18 March 2019. At BrewDog Cowgate, Edinburgh. Shared with the lovely Anke! Pours clear pale golden with a big, lasting, foamy, white head; lots of lacing. Aroma of white bread, yeast, citrus, grass, unripe apple, pear, apricot, grain. Taste is light to medium malty sweet, quite bready, fruity notes of apple & pear with a very soft sour touch of citrus, only light grainy bitter, a tad yeasty. Dryish, grassy hoppy finish, grainy, yeasty & retronasal effect of bread. Light to medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Utterly quenching, a good Pale Lager but a mediocre beer.

330ml can @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours gold with a light mist, fluffy white head. Aroma chucks out some lemon amd grapefruit citrus, crisp with nice lemon-lined grassy hop notes against a lagery malt backdrop. Good lager this.
