The Surfers Ale is a tasty, naturally cloudy pale ale (light, top-fermented beer) with fruity notes of grapefruit, tangerine and lychee. It has a full-bodied body with a pleasant but not too strong bitterness on the finish. That is why it reminds a little of a naturally cloudy beer and impresses with its high 'drinkability'.

330ml bottle. Murky brass colour with small, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Citrusy hoppy aroma with notes of lemon, lemon zest, a touch of lime and liquorice, some herbal spiciness. Taste is citrusy hoppy, moderately sweet pale malty, notes of lemon drops, balm, a touch of lime and liquorice, a minimally peppery touch; grave, oily texture, soft palate, chewy mouthfeel. Unusual combination of weighty and (almost) watery palate, nice spiciness. Nothing outstanding, but recommended to experience a secluded area of the palate / texture spectrum.

Bottle @ home. A bit unclear orangy color with quite some yeast residu floating in it. Medium sized off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Smell and taste malts, lightly hops but a bit faded, a bit dusty. Taste malts, again a bit dusty faded hops, some bitter, quite malty. Decent body and carbonation. Drinkable beer, probably quite decent when fresh, but how on earth is this a golden / blond ale?

(bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, orange-golden colour with a medium-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Yeasty, bready malty aroma with notes of brioche. Mildly bitter and slightly sour flavour, light to medium bodied with a tame carbonation. Bready malty start with notes of citric and delicately flowery hops; moderately dry, bready and mildly hop bitter finish with sourish fruity notes. Wouldn´t have ordered a second one. 30.VII.15

The beer starts fresh and floral. Nice smooth citrus hints, mild, not too intense. Bitter hints in the aftertaste, fresh and fruity, but not too deep. A bit neutral in the aftertaste, fruity-bitter and round, but could be a bit more intense or deeper in aroma.

Milder getreidiger Antrunk. Zu mild, auch der Mittelteil gibt nicht mehr Aromen preis, hopfiger und rund aber alles auf zu geringem Level. Getreidiger Ausklang. 11/8/9/11//11
