(from the tap at the Biergarten of the brewery) Clear, dark brown with a ruby shine and medium-sized beige foamy head. Very aromatic nose of dark and toasted malt with toffee, milk chocolate and a dense herbal hoppy note. Bittersweet flavour, medium to light body, smooth carbonated mouthfeel. Malt-accented, toasty taste; dry, malty and moderately bitter finish with chocolate in the aftertaste. Clean, well-rounded and quaffable (17.06.2006).

On tap at the Brewery: Dark coloured; thick sweet-malty nose, shy bitterness too; small, stable head; robust bitter-sweet flavour, soft MF; lingering, bitter-aromatic finish. An excellent, spicy brew....................

On tap at Battersea Beer Festival 2006. Deep chestnut with lasting creamy head. Some sweetish malt on aroma, nice enough in mouth some cream, some smoke, a little burnt malt, drinkable inoffensive. Hoppy finish, not as much flavour as you might expect. Just enough on the finish to keep you interested. Slightly chewy finish. I think Duff and I decided that we could end up drinking quite a bit of this.
