Every year we age a special batch of our much-loved Russian Imperial Stout in Bourbon barrels. The depth, intensity, and complexity of the flavor profile of this special release, like its predecessors, make it a worthy tribute to Old Rasputin. This year, two variants of barrel aged Old Rasputin were produced -- one in rye whiskey barrels, and the other in wheat whiskey barrels. Stout Aged in Wheat Whiskey Barrels. First release XVIII (2015).

Bottle shared at Vertical tasting from XII. Deep roasted cacao, charred oak, cigars. Super roasty espresso. Boozy charred roast finish. My least favorite of the vertical we did, still a well-made beer though.

Thick, heavy, yet balanced. Really nice! Huge maltbase!
