Every year we age a special batch of our much-loved Russian Imperial Stout in Bourbon barrels. The depth, intensity, and complexity of the flavor profile of this special release, like its predecessors, make it a worthy tribute to Old Rasputin. This year, two variants of barrel aged Old Rasputin were produced -- one in rye whiskey barrels, and the other in wheat whiskey barrels. Old Rasputin aged in Wheat Whiskey Barrels. First release XVIII (2015).

(Bottle) Black colour with lasting, creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black coffee, dark chocolate, cacao, whiskey, oak wood, black rye bread, liquorice, vanilla and a touch of truffle. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark chocolate, cacao, espresso, liquorice, whiskey, wood, vanilla, caramel and a vinous finish with a balanced coffee bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Not really subtle, but really rich and tasty with a slightly boozy whiskey touch. Very nice.

Bottle. Pours clear black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is boozy, whiskey, cocoa, molasses. Flavor is light sweet, light plus bitter. Medium body, a hint fizzy. Too much whiskey.

Big alcohol aroma. Moderate toast and dry malt, some roast, and more alcohol which is the prominent character of this beer.
