Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks Ariel. Clear pale straw color. Aroma has some graininess, light vegetal hints and some grassy hops. Flavor has a bit of bready malt and a mildly bitter finish with light grassy hints. Rather light-bodied.

Bottle. Pours clear pale golden with airy white head. Clear aroma of hops nd yeast with mild flowery and paperlike notes. Bitter, hoppy flavour with notes of yeast and grain. Rather bitter finish with a subtle metallic note. Watery. Drinkable but nothing special.

Half-litre bottle: best before 7th May 2013, poured into a UK pint sleeve on 31st Dec 2012. Brewed by the now newly? named Chiemgauer Brauhaus (same address etc in Rosenheim). Light golden body, clear, bright and clean: the head a full white crown of foaming bubbles sat on top, the head tried to hang around and did so for a short while before becoming a wisp and collar after about a minute. Usual no show of a Helle/lager/pilsner smell: some grains maybe but not really much of anything. Gets my regular score of 3 for a non-smelling Helle. Tastewise it was your typical Helles/pilsner, mid-range hop and malt mix: refreshing but not really flavoursome in any way. OK and pleased I came across it.

0,5 l. bottle. Clear, light golden colour with a small, white head. Fruity and grainy aroma. Taste is light bitter. Medium body, average carbonation. Finishes bitter with grains, some fruits. The bitterness in the finish saves this beer from being totally boring. Otherwise nothing special.

Bottle at home - 30/07/12 (purchased in Rewe). Pale golden blonde with a white head. Nose composed largely of sweet malt and grain. Sweet flavour, pale malt a little fruity hops. Medium bodied, correct level of carnonation, a refreshing if not standard helles.

Tip of the hat to Bierkrug for this recommendation. This light bodied helles is perfect on a hot summer’s day. Light in body but full in flavor. Just enough to taste the grains without overpowering the palate. Very enjoyable...
