31st October 2022; Shrewsbury Beer Share in Chez Sophie, only four of us! I brought this 500ml flip-top bottle; BB 22nd July 2023. Very sweet and very malty. Red hue to the brown body, off-white head, just too sweet really.

Rocky off white head on an unclear chestnut coloured body. Malt, toffee & raisin aroma. Medium bodied, soft & smooth a clean back. Toffee, raisin, jam, berries & malt tastes with a lightly hopped tangy finish. Nice one.

Bottle from Steengaard, Beder. Clear brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and dark bread. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Sweet and light bitter finish. 120822

Bottle online from The Trembling Madness. Pours a hazy chestnut brown with a medium sized foamy beige head. Typical Doppelbock aromas of dry dark fruits, brown bread, fruit cake and caramel. Taste has these same notes with added molasses, brown sugar and also a touch of chocolate. Sweet finish. Medium to full body, average carbonation and smooth oily mouthfeel. Decent Doppelbock. Slightly above average for the style if maybe a bit too sweet for me personally.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - deep copper to red. Thin off white head. Nose - bready with light orange. Taste - orange and vready. An edge of caramel. Palate - close to medium bodied, a bit sweet. Overall - decent.
