Ein dunkler und wuchtiger Doppelbock. Vollmundig und samtig-weich im Geschmack. Die dezent wahrnehmbaren, blumig-fruchtigen Aromen des Saphir-Hopfens ergänzen sich harmonisch mit den an Karamell, Vanille und Honig erinnernden Noten der verwendeten Spezialmalze. Gebraut nach dem bayerischen Reinheitsgebot von 1516.

Re-rate from bottle, bb 21.5.20. Very pretty clear chestnut, creamy golden brown head. Sweet roast, caramel, light wood/oxidation. Fullbodied chewy, sweet berry-like, good bitterhop balance, a bit too oxidized though, lightly soapy Saphire retronasal. Old rating: 6 3 7 4 12 Bottle. Sweet caramel nose, not much hoppiness. Full sweet body, roast sugar, berries, a bit wood. Full on, but not hoppy.

Bottle. Aroma is fruity, tropic fruit, papaya, malty caramel. Taste is phenolic sweet malty base, less hops, average tartness. Oily mouthfeel with phenolic finish. Too much sweetness killed the aroma hops.

Bottle. Aroma is caramel, molasses, just a little bit of Saphir. Taste is more of the same, with caramel and toffee, rather sweet. Medium carbonation, oily mouthfeel. Too sweet if you ask me.

0.5 l bottle from local ’dursty’, best before March 2017. Clear, very dark red with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish, malty and moderately fruity aroma of caramel, plums, raisins and figs. Very sweet, malty and moderately fruity taste of caramel, plums, raisins, figs and molasses, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, slightly warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, almost oily and just slightly effervescent mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Rather simple, sweet and malty, but also quite intense and powerful Doppelbock with a rather strong finish. Quite nice!

*Nice caramelly smooth beer. Round, chocolate. The floral hops are there, not too intense. Fresh and round with nice chocolate roasted and moderate bitter aftertaste.

0,5 l swing top bottle. Modern craft-style label. Clear dark red brown in the glass, more than one finger head. Not a lot on the nose. Taste starts sweet malty little bit alcoholic, some caramell. Later hints of licorice. Sweet light alcoholic burning aftertaste with some roasted malt. Expected more.
