2012-04-27, draught at Ølbaren, Copenhagen, 6-4-6-3-13=32
Golden color, clear, with medium sized head. Mild aroma of malt with a hint of cereals and chips. Smooth mouthfeel, some malt and cereals flavor, sweetish, with some late caramel; correct bitterness. Quite compact beer. Unemotional and sweet.

2011-02-12, bottle from Markgraf Getränkemarkt, Bamberg, 7-4-6-3-13=33
Golden to light amber color; creamy head. The aroma is mild, with malt, caramel, vanilla; better than the average German bottle. Caramel and malt flavor, light impression of smoke, correct bitterness; fresh, balanced and well brewed.

2011-01-14, draught at Ølbaren, Copenhagen, 6-4-5-2-11=28
Golden color, light amber; small sized head. It has a strong aroma of hay and cereals. Quite simple flavor, mild, with an underlying light sweetness, and more cereals. Ordinary bitterness. Easy.

2009-03-17, draught at Ølbaren, Copenhagen, 7-4-6-3-13=33
Amber color; creamy head. Nice caramel and cereals aroma, mild; malt, very light smoke too. It has a medium body strength and medium soft mouthfeel, with caramel flavor but not impressive, not deep, and with just a touch of smoked malt. The final is weaker and less interesting, even if correctly bitter. I was expecting more (more sweetness or more malt flavor).

From tap. Pours clear and cobbergolden with a lacing, off-white and dense creamy head. Aroma is mil caramel malty. Light smoked too. First flavour encounter is mild fruity and caramel malty. Light metallic note. Goes into a vague smoked note. Ends mild caramel, bitter and smoked in a smooth finish.

Bottle. Clear light amber color with a small fizzy fair lacing mostly diminishing off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, caramel, toffee. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. Where is the smoke !

Bottle: Amber coloured, bigger off-white head; sweet malt (with a touch of roasted malt) in the aroma and a tinge of hops, some "smoked" illusions from very far away; moderate sweet flavour, medium bodied; sweet-malty finish with a mild, but detectable smoked touch. A gentle, well balanced smoked beer..........

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a beautiful, clear amber with an off-white head leaving a discreet lacework. Soft aroma of caramel. Medium body with a solid, lightly roasted malt base and then a fairly hoppy finish. The smokiness is only a discreet whiff. More like a Landbier really. 251206

(bottle) Clear, amber colour with a short, not very persistent, slightly off-white foamy head. Light-sweet toast-malty, slightly fruity aroma with a touch of caramel and faint smoky notes. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium to light body, smooth carbonation. Aromatic toast-malty taste with a light fruity and even lighter smoke presence in the background; moderately dry malty, light bitter finish with faint notes of hops. Decent Landbier with a subtle smokiness that could be more intense for my kind of taste.

On tap, served by Bjørn Hansen, "the crazy Dane from Gentofte" (more about him: see "Hansen EF-Domstols Øl"), at Gladmatfestivalen, Stavanger, as "Hartmann Felsentrunk Landbier". The Hansen 0.5 liter glass (quite good looking) was included in the rather steep price of the beer! The original Hartmann Felsentrunk Landbier swingtop bottle was exhibited on the counter, and when I asked for it, he claimed that this was the beer he actually had on tap. (He also had the paler EF-Domstols Øl). The colour was right, amber with a moderate head, but I did not get the faintest hint of smoke! The beer looked, smelled and tasted like a standard Danish "Classic". Moderate hops and some caramel malts in both aroma and flavour. OKish, but in no way remarkable.
