"Mit einem Hauch von Rauch" steht auf dem Etikett, diesen Hauch, vorweg genommen, kann man im Nachgeschmack ausmachen. Der Anfang ist malzig und leicht süßlich, im Mittelteil ist es eher herb, aber nicht wirklich stark, das Bier an sich ist recht süß. Im Nachgeschmack noch ganz leicht bitter, ohne das dies so recht auffallen will. Test vom 5.3.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 6,10,10,10,11,10 - 9,65

Amber beer with olive shine; small yellow-amber head, fast gone. Malty, caramelly, not sweet nose. If I have to search for smoke, I would think of a bakery, or of chestnuts from the campfire - rather than of smoked ham. But it is there, unmistakably. Smoke is very obvious in the taste, even when lightly, as smoked mackerel filets without the "fishy" streak. Potatoes or chestnuts from the hot ashes. "Green" flavours as aromatic plants or herbs, mossy. Light bodied, reasonably dry. I’ve had this beer before on draught (probably at GBBF). It was less smokey then, and not noticeably better. Good, but unspectacular smoked beer.

Bottle. Smoky ham aroma. Dark amber color with little head. Smoked meat flavor with moderate hops and acidic finish. Not an extremely smokey flavor - nicely balanced.

An orange beer with a fine dense head. The aroma is lighly sweet and malty with a touch of smoke. The flavor is sweet caramel with roasted notes as well as a touch of smoke and a good bitter end. The mouthfeel though is a bit sticky.

Sweet malty and hoppy aroma with a hint of smoke. Lovely amber coloring, low carbonation, lowish head with clinging lace. Full powerfull, fruity malty body, with clear smoked notes. Great solid lager.
