(bottle) Clear, chestnut-brown colour with a foamy off-white head of medium size. Slightly dusty and sweet roasty malty nose with a touch of caramel and cacao, plus notes of dried fruits. Sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a medium carbonation. Moderately roasted malty taste; quite one-dimensional and a bit too far on the sweet side; finishes with a good length. All in all not world-shaking but still a smooth Operator (24.04.07).

500ml vom Fass, shared with Finn. Clear and deep mahogany body under a low-level, tan head. Sweet, but vague smell of caramel chocolate. Taste is also of sweet chocolate offset by faint fruitiness and a marked alcohol touch towards the end (Biergarten at Antonius-Schwaige, Ingolstadt 23.06.2007).

Bottled, thanks jeverszeuge! Clear mahogany colour, rich but brief head. Aroma of bready malt, lingonberries and slivovic. Sweet and nicely bready with soft, deep malt character. Gentle and well balanced with notes of blueberries and spun sugar. Mild and warming.

Bottle (thanx to joss) Clear, amber coloured,mid-sized off-white head;sweet malt, dark malt and dark fruit in the nose with a touch of molasses; solid sweet flavour, with a very faint bitterness, medium bodied, soft MF; quite sweet-fruity finish. A solid Doppelbock, could be a bit better balanced..........

Short lived tan head over clear, dark-brown beer. Nutty nose, a bit oxydized already, green dark leaves. Sweet, nutty and indeed again a bit oxydized though not bad (before BBd!). A little taste of hazelnutoil, even slightly rancid. Bit burning, then medium bodied with little or no carbonation. Long oily MF. Just an average Doppelbock. Beautiful colour, but it’s brandy rather than Noyac. Thanks, Joss!
