Dark brown pour with a medium beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Aroma of malt, coffee and a bit of fruit. Light-bodied with flavors of earthy malt, roast coffee and dark fruit. The finish is roasty with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Crowler from JR's. Pour is just a little black liquid with overflowing tan foamy alabaster head. Slight malted nose. Taste is big burned damp wood flavors back with just a hair of coffee. Coffee was at first hard to find but it appears boldly in the middle. Gets a little more bitter towards the end and this sensation continues increasing in bitterness, on the sides of the tongue, clear to the end. Not bad.

Bottle pour into tulip glass from Total Wine & More, Burlington. Appearance is very dark brown/mahogany with light sparkle at the edges of the glass, 3-finger width light brown foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma is ashy (burnt cigarette), bitter roasted malts and coffee, dust. Taste follows aroma with earth. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thin texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste with dry lingering bitterness. Overall, the aroma/taste remind me of the burnt coffee smell of the industrial, cheap metal coffee maker in the church basement growing up. Way too ashy! Disappointing.

Subtle coffee stout, offering up a gentle unsweetened chocolate and roast heart, mixing with mild citrus and coffee cherry notes that lead to a dry, charred finish. Lingering coffee makes for a nice fade. Everything here is well done, just at a very restrained, dignified level. Not my favorite coffee stout, but my glass certainly does appear to be empty.

Full off white head sitting on top pitch black liquid. Aroma is mild char with plenty of coffee character. The flavor has lite vanilla, roated grain, and the coffee seem stronger in nose rather then the taste. Finish has light astringency.
