Bottle from Gabriel - Cheers! 🍻🍻 Rocky off white head left a froth on a dark brown body. Make, cinnamon & ashtray aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a lively back. Burnt, malt, spices, earthy & bitter hop tastes with a tangy citrussy finish. That gets better as it warms - good one.

330ml bottle [as Arolser Winterbier, courtesy of Gunnar - thanks a lot!]. Slightly cloudy, dark mahogany colour with ruby shimmer and average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white to beige head. Slightly toasty, minimally nutty, malty and slightly grassy, hoppy aroma, a touch of Brazil nut. Taste is moderately bitter and minimally fruity hoppy, slightly toasty, minimally nutty and woody, spicy malty, minimally sweet, subtle hints of caramel malt, a touch of Brazil nut, red berries, liquorice; lingering malty finish. Watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Well balanced, relatively meaty, at the same time quite quaffable - good!

0,33 l swing top bottle labeled as Winter Spezial from Erzengel. Thanks a lot! Cloudy dark brown in the glass, some boigger sediments are floating around. One finger pale beige head. Some malt and caramel on the nose. Taste starts malty, little bit roasted, getting more dry in the second part. Some nuts, some sweetness. Mid bitterness, little bit metallic. Below average carbonation. Okay.

Nikolaus Spezial, Fläschchen von Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. - Tiefdunkles Rotbraun, hefetrüb; sahniger Schaum. - In der Nase warmes, fülliges Toastmalz von tiefer Süße und gedämpfter fruchtig-herbaler Hopfen vor altbiertypisch milder, nur angedeuteter Fruchtigkeit. - Antrunk füllig doch elegant dunkel-toastmalzig mit aromatischer zitrusfruchtig-herbaler Hopfenherbe, dezenter dunkler Frucht und Anklängen an Spekulatius und Ingwer. Dezente Süße. Milder rezent, vollmundig. Im Abgang kernige Malzbittere und hopfenwürzige Herbe. - Sehr schönes, etwas stärkeres Amber, das an die Düsseldorfer Klassiker heranreicht. (16.11.2019.)

0,33l flip-top bottle at home from trade with Erzengel, big thanks. BB 26.04.2018. brown color, small yellowish / off-white head. smells earthy, caramel, milky, lightly grassy, tobaccoish, some ripe fruits. smell gets better with a bit of breathing. nice smell overall. medium body, rather pearly carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, metallic (from the carbonation), peppery, ripe fruits, green herbal, leathery, tobacco. finishes rather thin and lightly bitter with notes of herbs, tobacco and earthy notes. has some veggie notes, balance is also not great, also gets a bit thin towards the finish. a bit below average for me.
